US Space Force’s Space Systems Command completes final Atlas V launch

(Space War)) The U.S. Space Force’s Space Systems Command (SSC) and United Launch Alliance (ULA) have successfully launched the USSF-51 mission on an Atlas V 551 rocket. Liftoff occurred today at 6:45 a.m. EDT (3:45 a.m. PDT) from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station’s Space Launch Complex-41 in Florida. “Mission success” was confirmed by SSC and ULA teams after spacecraft separation, with the payload achieving its intended orbit approximately seven hours post-launch. “Outstanding! New tech, personnel will help CISA with coming rush of cyber incident reports

(NextGov/FCW) The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency is looking to onboard additional technologies and personnel to deal with a coming influx of cyber incident reports, according to a report released by the Government Accountability Office on Tuesday. The watchdog’s audit examined how CISA and its parent entity, the Department of Homeland Security, are complying with new requirements outlined in the Cyber Incident Reporting for Critical Infrastructure Act of 2022, or CIRCIA. The law requires critical infrastructure providers to report cybersecurity incidents and ransomware attacks to CISA within specific timeframes. Read More


WeWork model for SCIFs could increase small business participation

(Federal News Network) Replicating the WeWork model for sensitive compartmented information facilities, known as SCIFs, could increase small businesses participation in defense contracting, Moshe Schwartz, senior fellow of acquisition policy at the National Defense Industrial Association, told members of the House Oversight Committee’s national security subcommittee last week. Small businesses often lack the resources needed to build and maintain secure facilities certified to store and process sensitive information, creating a significant barrier to entry for businesses that want to work with the Defense Department. Agency Funding, Policy Decisions on Telework, TSP, Schedule F Left to Another Day

(Fedweek) With the House in recess through September 9 and the Senate set to follow after this week, the bulk of work toward providing funding for federal agencies in the fiscal year starting October 1 remains unfinished. While the House had set a goal of passing all 12 of the regular appropriations bills before the recess, it achieved that with only six—although the other six have passed the committee level. The Senate has moved seven bills through committee but has held floor votes on none. Read More
