He has worked as a government contractor and civil servant for 20 years, focusing on software cost estimation, software metrics analysis, and software acquisition management. Mr. Strickland lives in Madison, AL with his wife and three sons.

Gurney Thompson is a senior cost research analyst at PRICE Systems. Recently, he led a collaborative research project on cost impacts of additive manufacturing. In 2014-2015, he led a project enhancing rotorcraft cost models to enable estimation of new rotorcraft concepts and technologies. He directed a major effort developing data-driven approaches to electronics cost estimation in 2012-2013. Gurney graduated with a B.S. in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia in 2007.
