Abstract:

Today, the US Army is exploring options for an aviation sustainment level maintenance capability that can effectively cover initial drop in readiness. The Mobile Maintenance Capability concept provides key capabilities to sustain expeditionary Army aviation forces during operations in austere or immature theaters.

In order to support early program documentation and budgetary submission requirements, an initial life cycle cost estimate of a mobile maintenance capability was performed. Since, numerous alternatives have been proposed. This paper describes the assumptions, methodology, and results of the life cycle cost estimate for one of those options. The estimate was prepared using current Army guidance for an ACAT III program.
