First International Boehm Forum on COCOMO® and Systems and Software Cost Modeling

The Boehm family has established the Boehm Center for Systems and Software Engineering (BCSSE) to carry on the Barry Boehm legacy of research in the areas of system and software development practices and the evolution of these practices as well as the estimation of cost/schedule for all things related to software, systems, and system of systems (SoS) engineering and development. This year’s Forum will continue with the virtual format that seemed to work well last year, and it is scheduled for Nov 9-10, 2022. This year’s Forum focus is on Barry Boehm’s cost modeling legacy and to highlights Barry’s foundational contributions to cost modeling related to software and systems engineering and how these
contributions have evolved over time. Specific topics of interest for this year include:

• How software and systems engineering cost modeling has evolved over time in various domains
• Recent trends in software/system/system of systems engineering approaches and techniques
• Recent software/system/system of systems capability development game-changers
  Impacts of tools to improve/enhance/automate system and software engineering, development, or associated quality on current cost models/cost modeling techniques
• New or modified size cost drivers to estimate software development effort in response to changing development processes and environments/tools
• Impact of software/capability development game-changers on effort and schedule and any associated changes to effort/schedule estimation algorithms
• Approaches to accommodate recent software/capability development game-changers in current cost models
• Enhancements to current cost models to support
