As professional cost analysts, we face many challenges in developing reasonable and accurate estimation models. Sheila has over 30 years’ experience in the IT Software Engineering field and over 20 years in cost estimation, metrics and function point analysis (CFPS, CSP). Having worked in both the government and commercial environments, she has seen a vast array of estimation techniques and approaches – some work and some don’t! She will bring this wealth of experience to our Regional presentation on Why Can’t We Estimate Better?
Starting with a profile of various estimation models, we will then discuss the major drivers, risks and constraints that affect those modeling paradigms. The presentation will quickly move to how we can mitigate those negative influences and apply positive solutions to our modeling and estimation processes. Attendees will be encouraged to discuss issues and answers with interactive feedback for a lively discussion on this timely subject!
